Aero and I were walking around the fissure area.
"Keep an eye out for those rouge Pokemon." Aero warned.
I didn't do very good.
A Sunkern attacked us out of nowhere. I was thrown to the ground as it TACKLEd me. I POUNDed it with my tail, and it fell back a little. It reared up and tried to use ABSORB, but I ducked just in time.
Aero, where are you?
I POUNDed it again, and the Sunkern retreated.
So that's a Pokemon battle.
"Good job!" Aero had been watching, as he sat on a rock nearby.
"Why didn't you help me?" I asked.
"I wanted to see how good you were."
We pressed onward. Soon we saw a Pidgey coming straight at us! We both ducked. As it landed nearby, I POUNDed it. POUND seemed to be the only attack I knew, but it worked.
It swooped in for a PECK, and scraped my skull, causing a little pain. Aero scratched it with his claw, and the Pidgey flew away.
The fissure was now starting to look like a maze.
We passed a sleeping Wurmple, which looked to have been guarding some Poke.
Geez, even Pokemon use Poke.
We took the money and continued the search.
A Sunkern and Wurmple were fighting each other. We sneaked around and kept going.
"Wha... Mommy...where are you?" Caterpie was in a coner, crying to himself.
"We came to rescue you." Aero and I arrived on the scene.
"Huh?" Caterpie turned to see us.
"Your mom's waiting." Aero explained. "Let's get out of here!"
"Ok," Catepie agreed. There weren't any more Pokemon, and we returned to Butterfree.
"My baby's safe," She sobbed. "I'm sorry that I don't know how to thank you properly..."
"Aw, don't worry, lady." Aero reassured her. "There have been a lot of quakes and fissures lately. It's dangerous."
Whoa. I came to a world with lots of earthquakes.
"I'm glad your little guy's not hurt, honestly." Aero continued.
"Please, may I have your names, at least?" Butterfree insisted.
"I'm Aero."
"I'm Sparky." I answered.
"...Cool..." Caterpie was amazed.
We both sweatdropped.
He's uh...staring at me...almost adoringly...those sparkly eyes...it's almost embarassing...but this doesn't feel bad, either. It's like I'm a hero. Helping Pokemon in trouble might be a good experience.
"Thank you, Aero and Sparky!" Caterpie happily squealed.
"I know it really isn't enough, but this is a token of our thanks. Please accept it." Butterfree handed me some berries.
An Oran Berry, a Pecha Berry, and a Rawst Berry.
At least I still remember what berries are.
"Thank you so much." Butterfree said again. "Good-bye." She led Caterpie away. Aero turned to me.
"Hey, thanks for helping me out." He said. "You're pretty tough, and I respect that. So, uh, what are you going to do? After this, I mean.
...
"...Say, Sparky. If you don't have anywhere to stay, come with me." He offered. I followed him.
"Well, this is the place."
Wow. It was a house. I couldn't explain how happy I was. I'm a human, but I like it. It's weird. Maybe it's instinct. Maybe it's what it feels like to want to wag your tail...
It doesn't matter, I'm happy! Maybe I feel that way because I'm a Pikachu.
"I can tell your impressed." Aero almost gloated. "I thought you'd like it. I figured this would be an easy place to live for you, Sparky. In fact, I was sure you would like it."
"You know that fissure Caterpie fell in?" He asked.
I nodded.
"Well, lot's of other natural disasters have been happening lately, and a lot of Pokemon are hurt from them. I want to help them. I want to help make this place safer for Pokemon."
Wow. What a role model.
"And uh.., I think your capable after seeing how we rescued Caterpie. How would you like to form a rescue team with me? I think we'd make the world's greatest rescue team. How about it?"
"Sure!" A rescue team. Awesome.
"Alright! Starting now, we're partners! I'm counting on you!"
"What's our name?"
"I haven't thought that far yet. What do you think would be a good name?"
"How about...Hiro? Like Hero, but with an I."
"Hiro...I like it! It suits us! Team Hiro! We start tomorrow!"
And that is how
Sparky and Aero
began their careers together
as a rescue team.
